Not your typical Valentine's day post.

Even though I'm not a huge fan of Valentine's Day,
there's some love I'd like to share.

There is a swedish proverb that goes...

"Love me when I least deserve it
because that is when I really need it."

This is so very true.
Sometimes, as ironic, as it might be, when we need it the most, we drive love away from us.
But there are some who stick with us no matter what.
And later...it becomes our turn.
Did you know Valentine's Day is the day of the year with the highest suicide rates?
There are lots of people out there struggling with the hell of depression.
And on this day, is one of the days they need us most.
There's a simple way to help.
We never know what the person standing next to us is struggling with.
Today, let's forget about the heart-shaped propaganda, let's give out smiles.
We never know who might need it.

Today, on Valentine's Day, my shout out is for those who need it the most.
So to all of you...

I LOVE YOU.

ps. If you're looking for a different way to spread the love this Valentine's Day,
you can join TWLOHA in their fight to help those who need love the most.

Visual Life

Have you seen this video by Intel about Scott Schuman (a.k.a. The Sartorialist)?
I just had to share it. I'm a huge fan of Mr. Schuman.
And of the whole streetstyle photography movement too.
It's amazing to see fashion outside the magazines' gossy pages,
to see how people translate fashion into their daily lives,
on ordinary days.

Life is a runway, after all.

Miu Miu illustrated.

Model Olga Maliuk wearing Miu Miu f/w12 in an Elle Photoshoot.

I have always had a thing for the 40's decade.
I don't know why. There's something romantic and mysterious
about them. And elegant. People back then dressed to the nines all the time.
Hats, gloves, furs, diamonds, tailored suits, perfectly applied lipstick all the time.
People just don't dress that way anymore!

This Miu Miu collection has been one of my favorite collections ever.
Only Miucca could give such a refreshing twist to this decade without
losing the elegant charge by adding glittered details and over-sizing the coin-purses-like clutches.
The glitter was genius (I'm still lusting after the glitter sunnies)...
and what better excuse to experiment with it in my illustrations.

I've been watching for some time the work of Katie Rodgers
from Paper Fashion. And she has truly become one of my favorite illustrators
and a huge inspiration for me. I love the way she incorporates glitter in her artwork,
so I decided to give glitter a chance. And I really liked the touch it gives!

What do you think? Yay or nay for the glitter?
